The Importance of Motivation

A business is only as good as its workforce. Great companies improve their workforce through training and education.

A lot of companies have never considered using motivational speakers to try and enhance their team’s motivation. Bringing an established business speaker to your company or event is a great way to educate and inspire your employees and industry partners.

Motivational speakers have been popular across many countries for many years. However, what benefits do motivational speakers give to people and their businesses?
The best motivational speakers not only inspire and motivate, but also offer ways to fuel employee and business growth.

Motivational speakers work with your company to identify and strengthen your goals and objectives.
Most business objectives are clearly displayed in most office communal areas and online. A motivational speaker, however, will bring these goals and objectives back into focus.

Choose Who You Work With!

Many of us don’t get the luxury of deciding who we work with. Generally you end up working for those that need your service and can pay.

People want to socialise with the person behind the fancy logo or strapline.

One of the keys to an effective business is to pick and choose your customers. A lot of businesses make the mistake of working with anyone. They then end up with a mixed client list, ranging from wonderful clients to really odd ones.

If you are confident in your own ability and stick to a strict selection guideline it’s a lot easier to pick and choose who you work with. Only accept clients after you’ve spoken with them and are satisfied they fit your guidelines.

There are lots of strategies to get new clients but personally I don’t actively drum up business for my photography services. I just keep a solid relationship with my regular clients who continually highlight opportunities for new projects.

Commercial Word of Mouth is King!

It is very important to stay professional with all your dealings regardless of the outcome. A relaxed approach and a solid online presence will secure the clients expectations. They can “vet” your online work anytime and decide if they like your style. This approach has helped me get many new ventures with little to no actual advertising or marketing.

Pakistan Fashion Week

One last thing to remember stick to your field; if you’re a Fashion Photographer limit your scope accordingly. I have had countless requests to shoot weddings and other areas but I forward these to fellow photographers that specialise in those areas. Don’t tread on other professionals toes, we all have our unique talents and a mutual respect is necessary for keeping everyone ticking along.

Remember Money isn’t Everything and you should choose who you work with. Not the other way around.

3 Photography Tips for Beginners

There could be a lot of confusion and disastrous results for those new to photography. The complex controls, the confusing manual, and the oh-so bewildering settings! That can be too much, especially for those just starting out, so here are some useful tips to help you through this time.

The Quality of your Camera

Don’t stress out if you don’t have high tech camera and equipment. Well, it’s true that the right camera will provide the best pictures, but it’s more than just that. The right angle, the perfect light and what you include in the frame will make the picture more stunning.

I for one believe that every camera can take a good and high quality picture, but if you have the skills and knowledge, every insignificant picture can be made into a stunning masterpiece. Take my word for it!

Watch the Light

The right light can make drastic changes in the quality of photos – worst of all times to take photos is the midday. The harsh sunlight exposes every little imperfection of the skin and your subjects would appear dull and tired. I prefer to start my day with a few shots in the early sun but the golden glow at sunset also provides great light. Creative Campaign

The light glow makes the dims the features of the subjects but it gives a great look. Just use lighting to your benefit. A useful tip; use flash even during the day.

Don’t be Afraid to Make Mistakes

Come on, no one expects you to get it right on the first go, start slow and you’ll learn with every mistake you make. Actually, that’s what I did; every other photographer does this and in my opinion that’s the right way.

You can’t just wake up one day and start taking great photos. So give it time, don’t rush yourself and in case you make any mistake, take it as a stepping stone and learn from it.

How to recover from a failed hard drive

There is a back story to this post. I had a Bad failure from an 11month old Seagate Storage NAS. Read that full story here.

If your here just to see how to get over a hard drive failure read on.

  • First steps
  • Recover
  • Rebuild
  • Backup
  • Maintain routine

Once you have fallen victim to a bad hard drive its possible all the data is not gone. You need to think about what can actually be salvaged from the drive. In my case I took the drives out from the NAS and put them aside. You need to look at the options for Data Recovery software.

Here are the ones I used.

TestDisk  is powerful free data recovery software

PhotoRec PhotoRec Sorter moves each file into a new folder matching the name of the file extension (ex. JPEG, PDF, DOC)

PhotoRec Sorter To make sorting through the rescued files a bit easier I usually organized them by file type (.exe, .pdf, .doc. etc.)

I left them to run over night and some to finish the passes on the drives.

You will find with the Data Recovery Software will pull back files magically but without the original file names. A small price to pay for to getting the files back. You can use this software to separate the file formats into separate folders. To help sort and arrange what is and isn’t important.

Hopefully at this point you have more data back then you first lost. You need to build a Backup plan and stick to it so this doesn’t happen again. It is very easy these days to set up automatic backup routines.

Maintain routine

There are programs out there even within windows to backup. I use Cobian its open Source and does a great job.
